Some of your favorite memories happened in summertime. Maybe just the mention of summer has you thinking about one or two of them right now. Remember the smells? Remember the sun on your skin? Remember when summer meant no school, bare feet, swimming, and extra long days to play outdoors? Well, now that we are older
we have a slightly different view of summer, but it’s still great. One of the best parts
of summer is the good times and relaxed attitude that seems to be prevalent. Folks just seem to be happier. Maybe it’s because they will be on vacation soon, or they just returned from a getaway, or because school is out and there is more time to spend with family. Everyone has their reasons and summer is a great harbor for happiness.

A personal favorite of summer is the greater number of car shows and events that happen in summertime. The weather is perfect. The sun shines brightly on the paint and chrome on the rows of cars before you. People have polished and buffed them into gleaming perfection just for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and perhaps a trophy for the effort. It’s great to hear the stories behind the steel. The vehicle owners like to share the journey of both the car and themselves as they both were transformed by the process of restoration. Perhaps the car has been in the family for generations. Maybe they have wanted to own this exact one their whole life and can now, finally, afford their dream car. Some cars are “trailer queens”, some are daily drivers. All are uniquely special. Each help to make up the patchwork of the car show quilt. We thank them for the effort because it gives something back to us as well.

Yes, there is a lot to enjoy in the summer. So whatever your plans are, plan to take the time to enjoy. Not just do. But actually be in the moment. Take in the special moments of the long days of summer. You will find the memories will be waiting for you in the days ahead. Welcoming you back to remember and revisit.
