Inside Who Do You Think You Are Magazine November 2020 issue

Although the new series of WDYTYA? was announced after we had sent our last issue to press, those who subscribe to our weekly email newsletter will have been some of the first to hear about it (sign up via our website if you haven’t already). Jodie Whittaker’s episode is testament to the power of family history, and there will be more great stories in the episodes ahead. As always, join us on Twitter and Facebook to get more from the series.
Many of our contributors have worked as consultants on the show, and you will see the results of their work coming up online and in the magazine over the next few months. One example is our
article on pre-NHS healthcare that ties in with Ruth Jones’ episode, which is due to air on 2 November (page 72). As series producer Sarah Feltes says in our exclusive interview on page 16 it’s one of the stories in the series that really resonates with what we are going through today.
One aspect of family history that isn’t seen on the TV series is DNA testing. With its huge database of users, Ancestry is a clear favourite
when it comes to matches, but understanding how to get the most out of them can be tricky so turn to page 19 for some handy pointers. Finally, do come and say hello to me at the online FHF Really
Useful Family History Show on 14 November (page 13). It will be lovely to see some new and familiar faces. Happy hunting!
