By the time you will be reading this magazine (hopefully somewhere nice and comfy with a hot cup of tea), the 1921 census for England and Wales will be online. On page 28 we
provide background to the census, but we couldn’t give any previews because even we weren’t allowed a sneaky peek before we went to press. Please do share your discoveries with us – we would love to hear what you find out about your 1920s family.
This month also sees the launch of our sixth annual Transcription Tuesday event with some fascinating projects lined up (page 24). And to help you decipher some of those tricky words we have asked experienced palaeographer Judith Batchelor to share her tips on page 16. We will also be adding extra support and tutorials to our website to help you transcribe, so come and join us on 1 February and let’s make it our biggest ever ‘give-back to genealogy’ day!
