Total Film – November 2019

This month I’ve been flitting between film festivals, starting in Toronto (see page 22) – where I met one of Hollywood’s nicest people, Tom Hanks, to discuss A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood – and ending in London, where I was on the star-studded LFF jury.
That meant a lot of time in screening rooms, contemplating the transportive joy of cinema. And films don’t come more transportive than Jumanji 2, a followup
to the monster hit. Dwayne Johnson and pals tell us how they upped the ante (and laughs) for a second instalment. I also sat down with the thoroughly charming Edward Norton to talk through his career (including The Incredible Hulk), and we chatted to Rian Johnson about his delicious whodunit, Knives Out, as well as Matt Damon and Christian Bale, talking torque and speed for racing biopic Le Mans ’66. And don’t forget, we now have a podcast, Inside Total Film magazine , where we natter about the latest releases and news in audio form, as well as here in print.Find our chatter at audioboom.com and on all your friendly podding platforms. – Jane Crowther, Editor-in-Chief
