Few things are as synonymous with summer as riding a bike. When we were kids, our bikes afforded us the freedom to explore, and with the schools closed for a couple of months, we had plenty of time on our hands to hop on and navigate the neighborhood—and beyond. There’s nothing like the warm wind in your hair, riding side by side with your best friends, in search of your next favorite memory. But why should kids have all the fun?
Bringing along a bicycle on your RV trips is a great way to get around the campground, to visit nearby cities and towns, and to complete tasks like a quick trip to the corner store for some ice and beverages. And you burn a few (or many) calories while doing so. Definitely a win-win situation.
But, just like when we were kids, a bicycle can be your ticket to adventure. Many cities across the country are bike-friendly, making those downtown jaunts safe and easy. Plus, there are countless places away from the hustle and bustle that allow you to envelop yourself in remote settings, to carve a trail (or follow a path) among the trees, coastal views, secluded streams, stunning city parks, and even old railroad routes. In “Pedal + Metal,” beginning on page 24, we offer an in-depth look at bicycling, including types of bikes, riding tips and tricks, how to transport your two-wheeled steed in your RV, and even some of our favorite biking destinations.
If that’s not enough to channel your inner kid, check out the pulse-pounding adventures in “What a Rush!” Turn to page 20 to unlock the thrills of extreme sports like skydiving, ATVing, whitewater rafting, and rock climbing. And what kid doesn’t like a birthday party? We’re celebrating Good Sam’s 57th anniversary all month long with
giveaways, discounts, and some special surprises. Cake and ice cream are optional, but you should definitely bring the kids to a Camping World store near you to join in the fun. Now that summer is in full swing, it’s time to get in touch with your inner kid and let the good times roll. We’ll see you on the trail.
