Welcome at Market Magazine September-October 2023 Issue

What a difference 12 months can make. This time in 2022 we were all struggling with ridiculous vegie prices as a result of the floods in southern Queensland earlier in the year.
But this year we’ve had amazing, mild growing conditions and prices of vegetables have plummeted. Beans, broccoli, cabbage, capsicums, carrots, celery and cucumbers have all been less than half the price they were last year.
Now, in a world where everyone is looking to make that family budget stretch a bit more, my best shopping tip is to look at our amazing vegies, as there is so much value to be found across our stores.
And as spring begins taking hold, I’m starting to look at my barbecue more and more. Spring lamb cutlets, scotch fillet or dry-aged T-bone are the heroes, while there are also plenty of vegies that go great on the barbecue, like corn, bullhorn chillies, Aussie asparagus, capsicum and eggplant.
My favourite things in stores at the moment, however, are the early season KP mangoes from Darwin. There’s nothing I love more than cutting up a couple of mangoes and watching the kids devour them. Althougt the early crop is not going to be large, later Queensland fruit is looking plentiful so I can’t wait for a few sunny days with trays of mangoes over summer.
Looking forward to seeing you in stores, or shopping online where all our pricing is the same as store prices with delivery available in most areas in under two hours. Enjoy the new season.
