Take Your iPhone on an Adventure

As we head into the summer months, I’m envisioning this time as a glimmering bubble filled with everything we’ve been missing during the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. I see bike rides through a warm summer breeze, grill outs and yard games with friends and family, cocktails by the pool, stargazing, and canoe trips down the river. As restrictions lift and it becomes safer to see loved ones, this summer is a hard-earned window of time where we can enjoy many of the experiences we’ve been longing for.
To help you actualize your summer adventures, the editorial team at iPhone Life has taken even more pleasure than usual in creating our summer 2022 issue for you. In our Great Gear section (page 44), you’ll find articles that will inspire you to take the road trip, buy the plane ticket, or set up your tent for a camping adventure. Turn to page 44 to discover the essential smart camping gear Video Producer Nicholas Naioti is packing alongside his iPhone, tent, and sleeping bag. While warm weather makes it easier to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature, the hotter temps can also be a challenge for the heat sensitive among us. Feature Writer Olena Kagui has you covered with her roundup of novel gadgets that help you stay cool, featuring everything
from a bracelet with technology proven to cool you off to an iPhone connected mini-fan (page 50).

The Best Apps Issue — 2022 Edition

Beyond gear, having the right apps on your iPhone offers a powerful way to expand the capabilities of your devices. And that’s what this iPhone Life Magazine issue is all about (page 29). On the following pages, Managing Editor Amy Spitzfaden-Both lays out for you a selection of over a hundred hand-tested options. Whether you’re aiming to hit goals with categories like productivity and finance or elevate your summer fun with food, fitness, and community-focused apps, Amy has you covered.

Everything from Apple so Far This Year. . .

Apple’s product line has ballooned since the early days of the i
Phone when Steve Jobs gave you one product to choose from. Now we have the budget-friendly iPhone and Apple Watch SE, feather light devices like the iPad and MacBook Air, and high-end
Pro model iPhones and MacBooks with premium features.
And now, Apple has complicated its lineup even more! This spring, Apple introduced a new iPad Air and desktop device called the Mac Studio into its lineup. Both new devices house Apple’s own silicon M1 processors, which have performed shockingly well in benchmark tests since Apple debuted the original M1 chip in 2020. Both the new iPad Air and Mac Studio are staggeringly powerful and sport a number of exciting features (learn more on pages 16 & 20). If you’re looking for a high-end device from Apple, this leaves you in a bit of a pickle. These new devices have top-of-theline processing power, and they’re less expensive than their Pro counterparts. If you’re buying now, it’s hard to justify purchasing anything else. But if you’re willing to wait, we’ll likely get enough new features with fall releases to once again put Apple’s Pro line on the top.
