One of the things we love about putting together our Infinity magazine is coming up with features on some of our favourite old sci-fi and action movie classics. This time around we revisit Capricorn One, Peter Hyams’ thrilling 1979 action thriller about faking a trip to Mars that is surely ripe for re-evaluation in an age where conspiracy theories are as common as Downing Street parties, er, gatherings.
Also in this typically packed issue is a fun feature on the action and sci-fi shows that took over the Saturday teatime schedules in the late-70s and early 80s, including the likes of Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The A-Team and T.J. Hooker.
Back in those carefree days, little did we realise that by the year 2022, the cumulative effects of overpopulation, pollution and a climate catastrophe would cause severe worldwide shortages of food, water and housing. Oh well, enough about real life, just settle back and cheer yourself up by reading all about Soylent Green, the 1973 Chuck Heston film set in 2022 which we have decided to “Make Room… Make Room” for a feature on.
Other cult sci-fi movie favourites to be found here include the Christopher Reeve/Jane Seymour classic, Somewhere in Time and Roger Corman’s The Man with the X-Ray Eyes, as well as a fun piece on Ultra Q. Never heard of it? Well in the mid-1960s, when Japanese monsters ruled the earth, Ultra Q was the ultimate creature show. We’ve also got Barry Norman and Kenny Everett, and so much
more, in a fine magazine that is always in the best possible taste!
