LEGENDS of the East Coast Main Line are the primary subject in this issue of Hornby Magazine with our features and competition being joined by two
all-new models of the Class 55 ‘Deltic’ and the Class 91 AC electric for ‘OO’ gauge. Accurascale’s Class 55 ‘Deltic’ is a model we have long been waiting for and it is the manufacturer’s first powered model for the British market. The specification is mouthwatering and the result is compelling.
We think there will be many happy modellers itching to get their hands on what we feel has the potential to be one of the best ready-to-run
diesels for ‘OO’ gauge ever made. You can read our full review of the new ‘Deltic’ in this issue – and don’t forget to drop in on www.keymodelworld.com in May to watch our video demonstrating the models at work both with and without digital sound. Joining the Class 55 is Hornby’s equally anticipated model of the East Coast Class 91 AC electric. The last time this class was modelled afresh was in 1988 and it is pleasing to see a continued interest in overhead electric locomotives. Moreover, Hornby has updated its electronics with this model being its first in a long time to have a 21-pin decoder socket.
However, those two locomotives are just the tip of our East Coast Legends iceberg as we also have a full feature on Tony Wright’s outstanding model of Little Bytham station as it was in the
1958-1962 period when the ex-LNER ‘Pacifics’ still reigned supreme on express, parcels and even freight traffic. This spectacular layout is packed full of detail around the railway, in the locomotives and the rolling stock – and we are proud to bring you exclusive images of the layout in this issue as well as a full video tour online at www.keymodelworld.com. Completing our East Coast line-up is a full sound installation guide for Locoman Sounds’ new Doehler & Haass sound projects for the original and rebuilt Gresley ‘W1’ 4-6-4 locomotives. We explain how you can install the decoder together with a powerful speaker and stay alive capacitor, and we’ll have another full sound demonstration video available for these models. Plus, don’t miss your opportunity to
