Welcome at Diva UK Magazine September 2021 Issue

Almost every time I’ve interviewed someone for the magazine, she’s told me her DIVA story. Many say it’s a dream come true to be featured in her pages. And it’s a dream come true to be editor. It’s an honor and a privilege to do this job, to tell these stories and to continue its legacy. That’s why it’s so hard for me to say goodbye. But after eight years, 87 issues and literally thousands of life-changing conversations, it’s time.
In lieu of a Big Brother-style “best bits” montage – though I’m absolutely not against that, if you have time to rustle something up – I’ve been thinking about my highlights. From swimming with baby elephants in Thailand to snooping around Shibden Hall with Suranne Jones and talking about my one true love (armpits) with Jacqueline Toboni, there have been so many. It’s impossible to sum it up, this wild ride, in a few short paragraphs, but what I will say is that these have been the best years of my life.
Of course, it’s been hard at times. These pages are crafted with my blood, sweat and tears. Oh, there have been a lot of tears. That’s because this magazine means so much to me. In my first editor’s letter, I promised to do my best to take care of DIVA, and I hope I’ve done that. I’ve worked really hard, with the greatest team in the world, to make this the best possible magazine it can be, and I’m proud of where I’m leaving it. Despite challenges facing print media and those presented by Covid, we’re in a strong place. Our content is fiercely and unapologetically bi and trans inclusive, it’s relevant and it’s important. I’m excited to see what the future holds, and to hear the DIVA stories of another generation.
It had to be something special that tempted me away from DIVA, and Mermaids is. I’m looking forward to this next adventure and to playing my part in the fight for trans liberation.
Thanks for putting your trust in me, for supporting DIVA and allowing me the opportunity to live my best life these past eight years. Miss you already…
