Ever feel Iike bikinng in the snow is equivalent to self-sacrificing martyrdom?
If so, you probably share something, or at least one of something, with Saint Valentine.
The last few months of winter can be challenging due to early sunrises and early sunsets, making it difficult to make the most of the sunshine and travel the icy distances.
But isn’t that what we love? Perhaps the Saint’s Day of Love was born to provide us some comfort during those trying times during the coldest days of February?
A significant cultural, religious, and commercial Festival of romance and love in many parts of the world, Valentine’s Day began as a Christian feast day honouring perhaps “one or two” early Christian martyrs (called Saint Valentine). Numerous martyrdom tales involving St. Valentine or St. Valentines have been recorded throughout history and are related to February 14. In one, St. Valentine writes a letter to his jailer’s daughter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell before his execution. Other accounts include performing weddings for those who are Forbidden to marry, restoring sight to the blind while imprisoned, and an account of imprisonment For aiding the persecuted. Although life bach then was difficult, it serves
as a reminder of what we can achieve by working hard for the things we care about and making small sacrifices in order to go the additional mile. I sincerely hope you appreciate this issue and are appropriately motivated to ride your bike. 13ihe, have fun, and stay safe.
