Now I don’t want to start a row in our house, but some things just need saying: I make better pancakes than my wife. That’s not my verdict, but the judgement of our youngest son. She makes pancakes for his breakfast every weekend, but she was away visiting her mum, so the duty fell to me. I decided to break away from her conventional fluffy, stacked approach and tried some of the recipes our team devised for Shrove Tuesday (p18). They were a ginormous hit with our son and he has begged me to make them again. Just don’t tell his mother!
Pancakes aside, there’s so much to enjoy in this magazine issue, including eggs, one-pots, simple bakes and effortless slow-cooker suppers.
