I’ve always enjoyed having my birthday in February (and no, this isn’t a subtle hint to send cards and gifts!).It helps breakup what I can otherwise find to be a bit of a grey and we told
month, where winter has outstayed its welcome and I’m fed up with mud.
At this time of year, I find my self inspecting the ground for shoots, and sticking my head in the trees to see how the leaf buds are coming on. There’s nothing I can do to speed along the advancement of spring, but one practical thing I can take action on is to make plans and book things todo for when the weather is warmer. My mantra is to get it on the calendar,
if I want it to happen.
So if you’re anything like me, you’ll bepinging off emails, making calls and gathering the clans to fill up your diary with plenty of wholesome and hearty pursuits. And we’ve got bags of inspiration for you this issue, from the majesty of the Isle of Skye to the pastoral elegance of the Cots wolds, as well as our pick of some of the best country breaks to enjoy walks and wildlife.
I can almost feel the sun on my back already! Enjoy the issue.
