Allrecipes – June-July 2021

It’s still early, I realize, and I’m still wearing my mask and washing my hands and keeping an eye on the news. But I’m more than ready to pull out my floppy sun hat and spend a leisurely Saturday morning perusing the freshest finds at the farmers markets, lingering in the aisles of grocery stores and specialty shops, squeezing the peaches and
smelling the cheeses, and cooking whatever inspires me for all the people I’ve missed as they, too, start to widen their social bubbles.
I’m not jetting anywhere just yet. But I’ve plotted a few road trips to visit and hug and dote on my favorite vaccinated humans who don’t already live with me. I’m hoping to shake up tropical drinks for an in-person happy hour with the Allrecipes magazine team one sunny day soon. And I’m cooking up plans for backyard cookouts and dinner dates and ice cream socials with neighbors and foodie friends when we’re all in the clear. My summer bucket list includes sipping a cold one in dappled shade somewhere near water, mastering last-meal-worthy ribs (page 42), putting all the zucchini
I’ve planted to delicious good use (page 27), and capturing some of the season’s best flavors in little jars (page 50) to enjoy on cheeseboards and share with friends long after summer’s gone.
After more than a year of saying no, it feels very good to say yes to summer. I hope this issue helps us all do just that.
