As we know from old Erwin Schrödinger’s much putupon moggy, lock a cat in a box and it is simultaneously a superposition of three states: alive, dead and, as the late, great Terry Pratchett put it, ‘bloody furious’. During the uncertainty of current pandemic, every future event is locked in that same box. With a now presumably quite musky-smelling feline.
Given i usually write these words a few weeks in advance, this makes for quite a difficult task. All i can say for sure is we had a fantastic new year with family and friends and tearfully sang “Auld Lang Syne” under our breath to an empty room. The Consumer Electronics Show was a riotous in-person event in Vegas and a series of Zoom calls populated by dressing-gown wearing journos.
Fortunatly, the one thing we can count on is that it’s been a bumper month for tech releases. And this issue is jam-packed full of them.
