ARE WEOFFICIALLY in summertime now?We must be. The mornings are light and warm, the birds are in full voice a little earlier and Keanu Reeves is back — dog by his side — to kick seven bells out of a bad guy, or several (hundred) bad guys. Three surefire signs of summer and, more specifically, summer blockbuster season. To mark the change of the seasons, we sat down with Keanu for a long, lovely, wideranging chat that took in John Wick: Chapter 3—Parabellum, Speed, Point Break and, yes, Bill & Ted. And, while we were at it, went all-out on the action front, breaking down some of this summer’s most bonkers, spectacular set-pieces in the likes of Men In Black: International and Hobbs & Shaw.
The cherry on the top: setting ChristopherMcQuarrie on fire (well, his sofa, at least) and talking to Tom Cruise (the world’s most resilient action star) about why McQuarrie is the master of the action movie. Phew! It’s true to say that this issue has left us rather knackered. We might not have been the ones kicking ass, but we have been taking names. It’s takenit right out of us.
