4×4 Magazine Australia – January 2024
English | 132 pages | pdf | 71.83 MB

HAPPY NewYear folks, and it will be an especially happy one if you are in the market for a new 4×4 vehicle. I can’t remember ever coming in to a New Year with such a swag of new 4x4s to look forward to.
In the last months of 2023 we were lucky enough to be behind the wheels of some of the new 2024 metal, so that we could bring you the first-drive reviews in this issue of the magazine. The drive of the all-new MitsubishiTriton was a preview driving pre-production vehicles of a car that won’t be launched until February, while our fist local drive of the Ineos Grenadier came as Australian owners were taking delivery of their vehicles.
Then there was the updated LandCruiser 70 Series with its 4-cylinder and auto transmission combination. All we can say about it is, don’t knock it until you try it and it’s a bloody good combo that does the job very well.
Of course we’re looking forward to putting some more kays on these vehicles this year, away from manufacturer launch drives and on tracks we like to use, so stay tuned to these pages for more reviews.
And the new rigs don’t end there! Next month we’ll bring you our first drive of the local-spec Toyota Tundra, and in the first half of ’24 we’re expecting the new 250 Series Prado, Tank 700,Ineos Quartermaster, Jeep Wrangler with a turbo four pot, and who knows what else the manufacturers have in store for us. As we sent this magazine off to the hard-working printers, it looked for all money that Australia was heading towards a record year for new-vehicle sales, with HiLux and Ranger battling it out for bestselling vehicle honours. That’s overall sales and not just 4x4s, showing just how much Australians are loving the lifestyle of the go-anywhere capabilities that a 4×4 can afford them.
All these new vehicles mean a busy time ahead for our world leading aftermarket accessories industry which strives to have the gear you want for your new 4×4 as soon as possible once they go on sale. More cars with more model variants really puts these businesses to the test and it’s a credit to them all that they do such a great job and are considered the best in the world. Some of you will be reading this while you are still on holidays, so sit back and enjoy it while planning you next 4×4 adventure. We can’t wait to see your new 4×4 builds
