Happy November! Can you believe that we have reached the penultimate month of the near already? Whilst I do miss the sunshine and warmth of summer (of the few days we had it this year!), I’m really enjoying all that autumn is bringing to my day-to-day life.
I love waking up to crisp, misty mornings and stepping outside to hear the crunch of leaves beneath my feet. The colder weather has me craving warming foods like creamy curries, chunky stews and soups packed full of hearty vegetables and beans. For all of you who feel the same, head over to our assortment of soulful soup recipes — they’ll have you feeling toasty in a heartbeat.
November is the month when most people start preparing for Christmas, and here at Vegan Life HQ, the countdown has begun! We’ve got in store for you a whole host of treats to get you in the mood for festive fun, including Christmassy fashion, the best choccy advent calendars, yummy vegan turkey alternatives and a cheeseboard guide, along with tonnes of easy cheesy recipes!
For most people, Christmas is also about kindness — to ourselves, other people, animals and the planet, and we’ve certainly got content this issue that fits the bill. When stocking up on drinks ahead of the holiday, why not opt for brands and beverages that contribute to the betterment of the planet? Over on our drinks’ pages, writer Oliver Coningham rounds up products that will not only quench your thirst, but that have purposeful intentions behind every brew.
Powerhouse vegan runner and animal rescuer, Fiona Oakes, is the epitome of kindness, and this month, our columnist Maria Slough was lucky enough to meet her.
The pair chat about Fiona’s unwavering motivation for running and for advocacy, and Fiona reveals how it all got started.
Also in this issue, we investigate food waste and how to reduce it; Yvonne O’Halloran dispels annoying nutritional myths about veganism, and Sean O’Callaghan looks to the future.
Have a wonderful month!
