Spring wasnʼt particularly generous in giving us enticing opportunities to dine al fresco, but weʼre hoping for much better from the summer. In anticipation, weʼve packed this issue full of inspiration to take mealtimes outside. Weʼve got a gorgeous selection of picnic recipes from page 12, and some fresh ideas for the barbecue if cooking on gas appeals to you more (page 26). Whichever option you choose, youʼll probably want to accompany the main dishes with some supercharged salads (page 66). And if youʼre not the designated driver, you could even enjoy a decadent summer cocktail or two (page 100).
Travel is still a bit of a tricky subject this year, so if youʼre missing being able to try diff erent cuisines from warmer climes, weʼre also on hand to help you holiday from the comfort of your own kitchen. Melissa Saint Hill joins us on page 84 to tell us all about traditional Caribbean cooking and off er us some tasty recipes to try, while Zoe Alakija blends modern British fl avours with traditional Nigerian recipes to create an explosion of fl avours on page 34.
