Welcome at Northshore Magazine September 2023 Issue
On the way to the BONS event this past August, I decided to take the back roads from Andover to Beverly’s Tupper Manor for the spectacular celebration. I drove down 133, past the charming Stevens Coolidge Estate in North Andover, and wended my way through the bucolic town of Boxford, past rolling fields and farmland, and into Topsfield with its iconic Congregational Church built in 1842, and then past the Topsfield Fairgrounds.
I drove by antique houses and mid-century Capes along the way. Into Beverly, I continued onto Hale Street to glimpse the ocean—the salty mist in the air is intoxicating. It’s an overcast day and the gray waves lap at the shoreline. The scenery is breathtaking.
The towns and neighborhoods I traveled through each have their own personalities, yet there is a cohesiveness to them—creating this unified region we call home. In this issue we delve into some of the top neighborhoods across the North Shore. These places have such community spirit, which makes living here so special. We focus on eight neighborhoods that embody community spirit in different ways, “but they all have one thing in common: the love of the people who call them home,” says writer Alexandra Pecci.
From Lawrence to Marblehead and everywhere in between, there is something for every lifestyle, whether it’s loft living or farm living. In this issue we also take a deep dive into Beverly. This coastal city boasts a dynamic downtown scene along with “bedroom communities” as the commuter rail to Boston stops here. We visit Source Bakery in Gloucester, Barbara Lynch’s new restaurant, The Rudder, Rare Lounge at Encore, and the Cape Ann Museum’s Edward Hopper Exhibit, and reporton all the fun happenings around the North Shore! Let us know what you love about living on the North Shore. I know for me it’s the beautiful scenic byways and sandy beaches.
Cheers,
