Welcome at MacFormat UK Magazine March 2023 issue
When Apple split the old iTunes app apart for the launch of Catalina in 2019, it was something that felt long overdue. As a result, we got three apps for the price of one – Music, TV and Podcasts – yet the Music app, in particular, has miraculously failed to feel less busy. It’s still a brilliant way to enjoy music listening on your Mac, but it has so many settings, menus, options and features that it can be confusing to navigate them all, especially when you add in the Apple Music streaming service too.
To help, this month’s lead feature (p18) puts Music under the microscope, with the aim being to help you understand some of its quirks, nips and tucks, while still helping you to enjoy your music – so whether you’re a streamer, a casual buyer or an avid collector, we hope you’ll find it useful.
The Music app isn’t the only thing we’re lifting the lid on this month. Turn to p58 and you’ll discover some of the incredible things you can do with macOS Ventura. While some of the 55 tips we’ve included are specific to that OS, others will work just as well on any Mac or version of macOS that you have to hand. Plus, we’ll also bring you the latest news and rumours emerging from Cupertino (p6), which not only includes info on the M2 Pro and M2 Max-powered MacBook Pros, but also the new HomePod – cue the music indeed!
