Have you tried Apple’s AirTags yet? They’re the disc shaped tracking devices that help you locate things like your luggage, bike or keys using Apple’s existing Find My network.
Interestingly, Apple has been taking a bit of flak for introducing AirTags without more thought to how they might be mis used as stalking devices. The devices are small and inexpensive, so its easy to slip them into somebody else’s bag, for example. On more than one occasion now a woman has reported her iPhone alerting her to an unauthorised AirTag that was tracking her location without her permission. Apple has said it will make Air Tags more secure, by making it easier to locate unauthorised tags and setting their beeping noise louder, but these changes may not go far enough.
I’ve been using Air Tags for a while now and while they may present some risk, I do find them really convenient for helping locate my keys in the house. But they’re not the only tracking device on the market, so this issue we’ve produced a guide to all the top trackers, so you can see how Apple stacks up against the competition. We’ve also got a fantastic guide to using Air Play devices with your iPad, tutorials on using Quick Notes, managing your calendar and using the new Apple TV app.
Enjoy the issue and I’ll see you next time!
