Salut, dear readers, and welcome to this, our ideas packed spring issue which we hope will provide plenty of ideas for your forthcoming trips to France, as well as all the usual culinary inspiration, historical insight and all-important cultural nourishment!
Our band of merry writers have been very busy since they were unshackled from travel restrictions, and we are delighted to bring you a wide array of holiday propositions from all corners of France. Our two ‘Great Destinations’ – Normandy’s exceptional coastline and the rosé wine trail of Provence – offer great touring potential for those who enjoy exploring the French back roads and cherry-picking preferred stopovers.
The latter may, of course, require a designated driver should wine tastings be prominent in your plans! For those who prefer to unpack a suitcase just once on a single-location break, check out our features on the majestic Champagne city of Troyes; a fun and fresh-air filled summer escape to Morzine; a guide to the best museum eateries in Paris; and three fabulous Plus Beaux Villages to visit, complete with some easy-on-the-eye bike rides nearby. A leisurely two wheeled jaunt in 2022 is a great way to honour the 40th anniversary of this fi ne association, which
promotes the tourist appeal of rural villages with a rich cultural heritage. Balazuc in Ardèche is pictured above.
If nature and green thinking are important to your plans, you will find plenty to admire in our guide to Sustainable/Slow France and our nature lover’s guide to parts of Aude and Hérault in sunny Occitanie.
Finally, you could find yourself on a week’s holiday in the Dordogne Valley this autumn, or the proud owner of a superb Withings smartwatch – turn to pages 28-29 for more details on entering our prize draws. Alors, wherever you choose to visit, I wish you all bon voyage… et à la prochaine!
