Welcome at delicious UK Magazine January 2021
Surely it’s going to be a better year… It has to be, right? Before writing this I looked back at last January’s editor’s letter and it was so full of innocent hope, with (obviously) no idea of the magnitude of difficulty we were on the cusp of facing as 2020 unfolded. I’m glad I didn’t know what lay ahead, actually; sometimes a gradual dawning of challenges makes those challenges easier to cope with – one day at a time.
Although we’ve all had more than enough of bad news (along with words that now make me cringe – ‘unprecedented’ being top of the list), I’ve been heartened by how people have learned to be more open about their wellbeing, sharing more and considering others a new.On that note, I have something to ask you. I’d love you to tell me about your experiences of the past year: the highs, the lows, tales of community spirit, how you’ve coped, people (the new community heroes) who’ve made you smile. The good, the cheering and the inspiring, as well as how cooking has helped you – cooking (or reading) as solace. I’d like to see pictures of things you’ve cooked from issues of delicious Uk magazine and from our website, too. The reason I’m asking this is because, when all’s said and done, what lies at the heart and soul of delicious. is YOU, our millions of readers and online users, and I want to reflect that by telling more of your stories in the pages of the magazine.
Meanwhile, we have a campaign launching this month: Reclaim Your Lunch Break. To gauge its importance, I’ll ask this question: if you were once office-based and now work from home, how often do you motor on through lunch, thinking ‘I’ll just do this first’? Then somehow it’s 4pmand you haven’t so much as had a cup of tea. So easily done yet so bad for wellbeing, not to mention productivity. Turn to p89 for strategies, ideas for how to spend your break and quick snacks to recharge the brain cells. So many good ideas to kick off 2021 in a positive way.
Here’s hoping it’s
