On the Verge of a New Dawn!
Greetings friends!
We have come to the end of yet another year! Let us all bid 2019 goodbye!!
Since I came in, there have been a couple of events, starting with bridging the skill divide. We have always brought together academicians, policy makers and industry leaders to brainstorm ideas for innovation and collaboration. It was deliberated that India needs to catch up with the world, with regard to the requirements of the respective industries.
Western Digital was among the first few companies that I met since taking over. It was a pleasure meeting up again, that too, after nearly a decade, with some of my very old friends. Western Digital has advised that the right kind of data will help make the right decisions.
We move on to Singapore, where, at a Schneider Electric event, it was announced that by 2025, 75% of data will be processed at the edge. Edge is said to be at the core of the digital transformation. As per IDC, there are six global infrastructure trends. Smartphones allow pervasiveness, multicloud and platforms bring complexity, convergence brings simplicity! Then, there is software-defined automation and management, while Al and ML bring intelligence, and loT brings the edge into play.
Further out, in cold and windy, but beautiful Austin, Michael Dell outlined the vision for Dell Technologies for 2030. There is focus on advancing sustainability, cultivating inclusion, gender equality, and one-for-one recycling. The ambitious goals are the lynchpin of Dell’s 2030 Progress Made Real plan. These are grounded in the belief that technology and data, combined with human spirit are, and will always be, positive forces in the world. There have also been discussions about building an autonomous future, and IT and the power of compute in the next decade.
Well, this decade has been interesting. Let us all welcome 2020, and hope for an even more interesting decade ahead.
Here’s wishing all of you a very healthy and prosperous Happy New Year 2020!
