Welcome at Classic Jaguar Magazine October-November 2023 Issue
I’d like to open with a thank you to you: our readers. Classic Jaguar Magazine is now selling better than ever thanks to your dedication to the marque we all love and your desire to see these cars in print. Please keep spreading the word and showing your friends. And keep joining us on Facebook and Instagram, where we serve up regular doses of Jaguar for those who can’t wait the two months between new issues. We appreciate each and every one of you – and we’re keen to see the Classic Jaguar family grow. 1973 saw the introduction of the XJ Series II – a car which many somehow see as inferior to the purity of the Series I and the accomplishment of the Series III. And we don’t understand this – the Series II not only gave us the beautiful Coupe, but developed the range into one with three clear levels of trim, three clear engines, and one which resolved the issues of the Series I without compromising too heavily on appearance. The Series II is the underdog that the mainstream classic press will all ignore – and with that in mind, we’ve done our best to do it proud at Classic Jaguar Magazine.
And we have a packed issue for you this time. Fans of prototypes and company history will love both Lindsay Ross’s fact-based fiction and Peter Simpson’s Daimler Corsica drive story, while those keen on Jaguar’s sporting past will find both the E-type Series 3 buying guide and XJR-S story to their liking. And then there’s our twin test. If a MkII isn’t quite right for you, would the Daimler V8 or Jaguar S-type be the better buy?
