Welcome at Airgun World Magazine September 2023 Issue
Thank you all so much for your emails and words of support for the new look Airgun World magazine. We’re working very hard to produce the best airgunmag’ that has ever hit the shelves, and it looks as though we’re doing just that, judging by your comments.
I hope you like this September issue as much as last month’s relaunch. Yet again, we’ve managed to pack 132-pages full of your favourite writers, covering every aspect of our wonderful sport. Please do let me know if there’s anything specifically you’d like to see in the magazine – it IS your mag; after all. Now for a bit of an update regarding airgun law.
THE LAW HAS CHANGED
I have recently been made aware, from the Home Office, of an update to the law concerning the storage of airguns and pellets, and airgun shooters are being urged to conform with new legislation relating to the storage of their airguns and ammunition. Many thanks to Paul Green at the Gun Trade Association for clarifying that what follows is all present and correct.
As of 31st July 2023 it is an offence to fail to take ‘reasonable precautions’ to prevent young people under the age of 18 from gaining unauthorised access to an airgun. This means that airguns must be stored securely and out of sight when under 18s are present. Airgun ammunition must also be stored separately from airguns. Government guidelines state acceptable means of secure airgun storage as; a robust, lockable cupboard; a lockable hard transit case; a locking device which secures the airgun to the fabric of the building, or a secure anchorage point; or an existing gun cabinet used for the storage of shotguns or firearms.
Whilst pellets must be stored in a separate place from airguns, they do not need to be locked away.
