MAKING HISTORY

When we hear the word “history,” our thoughts may generally turn toward significant events such as Paul Revere’s famous “Midnight Ride” in Massachusetts or the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia. And rightfully so; these events helped shape our country and made it possible for us to enjoy the freedom of RVing from sea to shining sea.
But your own personal history is important as well—it has made you who you are today. The memories and events of our lives are often measured in miles and smiles, and traveling from place to place with loved ones is a great way to form your own history. RVing is the best way to make that happen.
Hosting a gathering at the campsite with friends and family has never been easier, thanks to RVs equipped with patios (page 22), and the many new products and accessories designed to keep the fun going all summer long (page 38). Maybe you’d prefer to hit the road and visit a music festival or jamboree (page 48), to venture off the beaten path with an all-new off-road travel trailer (page 32), or to get a taste of Amish history (and present) in Pennsylvania’s Dutch Country (page 10). And we know that many RVers’ histories include tent camping; you can revisit days gone by in “Tenting and RVing” on page 18, where we offer some advice on what to look for in a new “low-tech RV” and the best places where you can tent-camp and RV together.
Now is the time of year to celebrate the history of our great country and all that it stands for. It’s also a time to celebrate your own personal history, and the many fond memories you have created—and the many more that are still to come.
