Marching Forwards Chef & Restaurant UK Magazine March 2023 issue

It is all systems go here at Chef HQ, as we prepare for, well Chef HQ! During 2022, we were asked by the team at Hotel, Restaurant and Catering show to bring to life a new vision for the demonstrations during the three days of the show, and with help from so many of you – we hope that we have done just that!
Deciding to mix things up a bit, we not only have a demonstration stage, but this is also complimented by a discussion platform, adjacent to the demos. Expect lively chat, outstanding contributors and industry subjects to be covered – we are sure, with quite a few laughs along the way.
Everything we do here with Chef & Restaurant Magazine, we like to think – is not dull. We appreciate our fabulous sector and every twist and turn we make is designed to continue to push our hospitality sector further, deepen its relationships – whether that is by bringing chefs own stories and inspiration into your kitchens, by forming bonds and alliances between chefs
and suppliers, or by supporting our educators and competitions. Bringing Chef HQ to life will be a physical manifestation of everything you see us do in print and online, and we can’t wait to see so many of you there.
There are so many people we must thank for their help with Chef HQ. Firstly, to Niall Keating and his team for allowing us to use the wonderful Paradise Carriage as our chef demonstration stage. Again, we wanted to bring life and soul to Chef HQ. During Covid, Niall and the Paradise Carriage brought just that to so many by inviting chefs to join him on Saturdays to cook, laugh and momentarily forget the troubles our sector was in. That Carriage means way more to many, than just a place to cook in – and what better stage to have to celebrate our sector?
We are thrilled to welcome Phil Street as host for the three days. Between Phil and me, we will be chatting, asking questions and supporting our guests as they take to the stage. As host of one of the sectors most prominent podcasts – Hospitality Meets, Phil has an easy going and fun manner – self-proclaimed, he finds the ‘fun and laughter in everything’ Curating, organising and managing the AV for the three days, plus creating films that will last as a souvenir for the event, we have our fabulous film partners 7Fifty. Rosa, Jack and the team will be on site – capturing the moments we may forget over time and ensuring that all the wires are connected, and the speakers set! Thank you team, for your invaluable help with this, and all the laughs we have shared en route!
Managing the kitchen for our demo chefs – we have appointed the wonderful Alan Thatcher. An alumnus of Westminster Kingsway College, Alan has forged a formidable career as one of the leading Home Economists in his field. Working with Saturday Kitchen, GBM, Pub in the Park and BBC Good Food Show, Alan will be ensuring that our chefs have the most enjoyable experience during their time with us.
Finally, all our sponsors and supporters without who this celebration of our sector would be impossible. On behalf of everyone involved at Chef HQ, whether as a contributor or visitor – thank you for your support, your unwavering encouragement and your commitment to our sector.
