Apps Unveiled – June 2018
Even the best knives need a sharpening now and then. The same goes for our brains. If you want to maintain that edge, perhaps brain training apps can help. There are hundreds of apps available in the app store that let you exercise your brain every day through a series of scientifically designed mini-games proven to improve your cognitive abilities over time so that you can process information faster, able to focus on details, get better at mental math, handle multiple tasks easily, and retain more of what you read and hear, for instance. Performance can be tracked and compared with other people in the same age group and profession. Furthermore, you can even invite your friends to play brain games together. Just 10 minutes a day is all you need to exercise your mental faculties. And, you won’t get bored—that’s guaranteed as brain games are designed to be both fun and adaptively challenging. This month the ‘App of the Month’ title goes to ‘Canva’. Canva is a super easy-to-use graphic designing and editing app that allows you to turn any thought or idea into a stunning graphic design using thousands of ready-to-use templates. Logos, Posters, Blog graphics, Facebook Post, or Invitation card— you can create any design even if you have no expertise.
My favorite pick of the month is ‘Knappily’ app. Targeted at users who wish to know the details about a trending news or topic, Knappily uses 5W1H (What, Why, When, Where, Who, How) framework to give you 360-degree information about any topic.
In a few swipes, you can go from little or zero knowledge to having a well-rounded understanding of any topic.
